Dear heart by Kulsoom Omar

Dear heart,

It has always been your purpose dear heart,
To keep beating to the tune of your Lord!
We swerved, you and I, amidst deafening noise of being
Now. The calm sound of silence may give us a restart

I did hear your wailing – stop, stop in the name of God!
Apologies for the neglect, I was immersed in an imaginary part
Your sobbing turned to sighs, then you became my accomplice
When in Rome, huh? You flippant, sly old pod

After all our vain wanderings have left us but exhausted
He is beckoning us back, to His mercy, His light, out of this dark
Leave all this jazz, return to our age-old melody, my dear heart!
