Social Distancing a reflection by Kulsoom Omar

Stay apart, keep a 6 foot distance?
Ah! I was already far far away
Yes, there were people in coexistence
My life barely came into play
Says the abused child with no resistance
Curled up, convoluted, night after night she lay

Stay apart, keep a 6 foot distance?
In a refugee camp, from collective conscience tucked away
Barbed wire, humiliation, horror of subsistence
Go on, make chalk circles to keep the virus at bay!

Stay apart, keep a 6 foot distance?
As it is I sat in the playground with no one to play
Me too! Was it my fault? She doubts her resistance
We were married, says the wife, facing his wrath every day

Stay apart, keep a 6 foot distance?
Entrenched is social distancing of class, power & indifference
Physical manifestation just emerged today
